This place was a total surprise. Highly recommended by some people with discriminating taste I was still more than a little skeptical because of it's location near the flea market and in Commerce City. My fears were slightly confirmed when we walked through the door into the aroma of some sort of sanitary product? but walking through that into the warm dark wood surroundings of a 70's cool restaurant wiped that instantly out of my mind, well that and all the happy people eating food and laughing and smiling. You can just kinda tell when a place is going to be alright can't you when it's full of happy people? Service was old school polite perfection. Two people asking for our drink orders before our waitress made it to the table seconds later. A very courteous bus person kept glasses full including soft drinks and my coffee cup. You know the waitstaff has been here forever. Perfect recommendations for beef and non-beef eaters, quick on the uptake, and knowledgeable about the product from supplier to the last person served. A party of seven, no mistakes, soup, salad, and meal timed just right, empty plates removed quietly and efficiently, every cut of meat, every plate of fish cooked exactly as ordered. I'm sooo a "first cut" fan of this place. Prime rib was excellent, tender moist and flavorful, the steaks looked delicious and I heard ummmmmm coming from the fish eaters mouths and when I looked again, the fish was gone (not that the portions were small, they weren't and afterward they were groaning about being sooo full just like the rest of us.). If I was to describe this place in a word.... I'd say it was "righteous!". oh and a FYI find them on Restaurants.com before you head over. I'm picking up more gift certificates as soon as I finish this review.

This is a great place. If you are looking for good food at a reasonable price, served by friendly people in a comfortable environment , this is the place! It is nothing fancy, just good home style cooking. The menu is varied with something for all tastes, the chile rellano dinner is one of my favorites.

This place is so old it has a smoking lounge. Everything about this place needs an update. The food isn't very good. If you like this place you should try Emilene's for supper club done right!

Been here for years a great food all around good service and the best soup i have ever had. For people who put negative stuff on here are not used to good food they are used to crappy fast food and cheap chain restaurants. Give it a chance and try it'd you will come home full and happy.

Have been going here since I was little. The prime rib is the bomb! Almost always get it and with the exception of once or twice, it has always been very good, especially for the price. It is a older place, has had some renovations, personally, I like the atmosphere, the bar and almost always we have had wonderful service. You get a lot of food, relish tray, salad, rolls and your entree. For the price again, I don't think it can be beat. Have been to private parties here as well and again, think it's a real deal.

I don't think that a place that serves up doctored frozen vegetables on dirty plates desires anything other than 1 star.

I been going there before the addition. Missed a couple of years. Was there Sat for my birthday and it was not the same. It is just a regular typical restaurant. Not going back. No more relish try, veg, not crowed anymore.

I have driven by here several times a week over the past month. Either it is closed or they are closed for a vacation or there are no customers at all. Anyone know whats going on?

I have been going to this place for over thirty years. It is Commerce City now but was Irondale for the first 20 or so years until .C. C. took it over. Please don't knock my home town Doug Y. If you have never lived there all you ever hear is the B.S. from what other people say about C.C. Anyway back to the review. You will not find prime rib in Denver metro this good. Tuesday's special for lunch is the P.R. You get soup (jalapeño cheddar or the French onion is the bomb), veggies, potatoes (choice of mashed, fries or baked) and a good portion of the P.R. for I believe $8.60. No where can you get a meal that good on top of being so inexpensive. I have heard people rant and rave about Mickey's Dinner club over on 70th & Broadway. The prime rib is ok, but doesn't hold a candle to Gala's and not even close to the same price. Yes the staff is a bit aged because they have been there for years. That has to tell you that the employees are treated well. Terry (one of the bar tenders) has been there about 25 or more years. Jolly good fellow Terry is. Kris K. I would love to know what you are talking about. I have never heard of anyone complain about truckers or the abundance of elders. I have never seen a trucker in there in all my years! Old people? Yes I do admit that most of the crowd is older but at lunch there is a very good mix. In the evening I see several young people in there all the time. You may have been there on an unusual or rare day/days. Over all other then the food being inexpensive I would have to say that on a scale of 0 to 10 I give it a 9.8. Try the club steak on Thursdays, you will love it. The green chile is actually very good (Tricia H.) for the Gala not being a Mexican restaurant. The reason is because the Werth's (owners) are partial Mexican and have a passion for Mexican food. The Cruzer

The best of the best of restaurants combining quality of food, ambiance, and service, and the fact that you receive a full meal with salad, potato, relish tray, and bread at a very reasonable price. The Prime Rib is the best in Colorado, bar none, and I am a connoisseur of fine dining. I give the Gala 5 stars! I might add they also offer a great menu for breakfast and lunch. Need to confirm my review call me at 720-877-6141. Here is a video that a television crew did when featuring this great restaurant! youtube.com/watch?v=taht…

Worst experience EVER! If I could give less then one star I would! Paid $24.99 per person for a buffet that consisted of deep fried bacon, enchiladas that tasted and smell like sweaty gym socks, etc. Did not get refills for our drinks until they handed our check to us. I expected to pay maybe $30 tops for everything but the bill was over $50 and way too much to charge for such poor service and horrible food. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!

The food really doesnt have much favor and the texture is something of mush. Not worth the money.

Meant to put my 2 cents worth since winning a meal for two here, especially with the suprising number of hater reviews. Granted I've only been here once but this was my experience: The prime rib was exceptional with ample au jus. I also had a huge, great baked potato that came with more than the usual thimble-full of sour cream. The soup was good. Our waitress was older and a total sweetheart. (A lot of ageists out there too). The ambience is something of a time-warp but I'm someone who loves aquariums and they have many. The star is a tank with a huge ~approximately 29 year-old fish ( I was told a gourami ) named Moses. You don't look at it/him. You meet him. Seriously...he looks back at you in seeming contemplation.. I was suprised at how quick the drive up I-76 was,how easy GG is to find and there is plenty of parking. The next time I want some great prime rib in an inexpensive, welcoming setting this is where I will go. Mind you the fried chicken plates that went by our table looked pretty inviting as well....

This place is Old School Cool. Vintage steak house that delivers top quality food and service. I love the plate of muchies they bring out when they seat you, peppers, celery etc. You just don't see that anywhere anymore. As some mentioned the staff is older, but all that means is they know how to do their job impeccably, and they prove it with service that is above and beyond any other restaurant I can think of. I know everyone goes for the Prime Rib, and rightly so, it is the best in Denver, BUT try the fried chicken sometime. I haven't had it this good anywhere else other than Georgia and Mississippi. Super crispy and still moist and tender.

We came here because my husband's co-worker recommended that we try this place. When we were walking inside, a whole group of people were walking out. Two of them turned to us and told us that we shouldn't eat there and would regret it if we did. We still stayed in hopes that they would be proven wrong but by the end of the night we agreed that they were right and we should have listened . I am not sure if they were just having a really bad night or if it is a new cook or what the situation was. It is true what the other people on yelp have said about the decor being very outdated but we have been to enough fantastic "hole in the wall" establishments to not let that discourage us. The servers were friendly and apologetic when our food took a very long time to come. The dinning area was a mess and no one seemed to be concerned or trying to clean it up. There were dirty napkins, and food crumbs all over the middle of the carpeted floor. When the food finally did come, the chile cheese fries were soggy and not good. There was a mix up with my cheese enchilada that came out smothered with brown gravy instead of enchilada sauce. My husbands plate did not have any problems but was not very good either. I am sad to say that we will not be back again. We were hoping for another good restaurant to add to our growing list.

We waited over and hour for a table...not the problem. The problem was, once we were seated the waitress went out of her way not to approach or table or wait on us. We sat there for 20 minutes before we walked out. It is the poorest run restaurant that I have been to. I used to go there all the time when I lived in Brighton. They need more staff, plus more kitchen help. Excuses only go so far!

We used to eat here at least once a month. They probably still serve the best prime rib you would ever get anywhere by far! We have not set foot in that restaurant in over 5 years. About 2009 the entire family decided to get together there for an Easter Brunch, about 25 people. We have been there several times before for their Holiday brunches and I'd have to say, it was really good, huge selection of salad, vegetables, potatoes, ham, PRIME RIB and peel and eat shrimp. This particular Easter brunch, the food was way off. I did not realize prime rib could be sliced that thin, and when I asked for bigger piece or a little he said, "I'm sorry, I can only serve a piece at a time!" Are you serious? It's a buffet! Went to get shrimp, cocktail sauce and went to my seat to get started. The grey shrimp on my plate was completely raw! I told everyone not to eat the shrimp and that it was raw. I went back to the buffet and told two different employees that they need to take the shrimp back to the kitchen and cook it before someone gets sick! The shrimp never was taken back to the kitchen! No one ate the shrimp! Everyone paid for their families share (almost $600 later) and we left! I called Gala Gardens the next day, asked to speak to the manager and was told, "the manager is not in and would return my call later", after 3 more calls, I gave up. We have not eaten there since!

When I walked in here I felt like I was in a time warp. Low ceilings, old fish tanks, wood paneling, etc. Did I somehow go back in time to my grandma's basement circa 1975? Anyway, I ordered the soup. It was jalapeno cheddar and delicious. For dinner, I ordered the prime rib. Medium rare. What I got was medium at best. I just didn't have the interest in sending it back. Service was ok, food not so much.

I've been going here since forever I think this place needs Gordon Ramsey to whip it in to shape they really could use a good cleaning the air vents are nasty to look at, the place could use a remodel and a change of menus Hope they can pull it together

My grandparents have been going here since it opened but since then it has been 15 years since we've come here. While the prime rib was as great as ever, the service was extremely lacking in many ways. -First of all we had to wait nearly 15 minutes to get our order placed while other patrons did not have to wait but 2 minutes. - Bread was not given until asked for despite the fact that other tables were served bread. -Our dinner took extremely long to come out, again in relation to other tables. -The orders were not correct Maybe it was just bad luck but unless all of us were blind, the waitress and service towards our table in particular was just not up to par with the rest of the patrons. Again, the prime rib is among the best in town at a reasonable price, but something has to be done about treating all customers equally, otherwise it might be another 15 years before we even consider coming again.

We came here to celebrate my Partner's late mother's birthday. This had been her favorite restaurant. Since we hadn't been in over 5 years, we were unsure what we'd find. What we found was Friendly service and delicious food. I'm always apprehensive about ordering a drink that is not a simple liquor and mixer, but the watermelon margarita is delicioso with their spicy green chile. Between our party, we had the Prime Rib, which our friend raved about, the Chicken Fried Steak which my partner said is the best he's had in a long time, and I had (what else) Mexican food. Their green chile is spicy but not too hot to enjoy. The relleno is crispy the way I like it and the cheese on the inside is melted through so you don't get that greasy half melted mess as at other places. The Decor is kitch-y without intention. Comfortable. The 3 of us were apprehensive about dining in Commerce City but we were treated with respect and our waitress could not have been better. We will definitely put this on our circuit of regular places.

We were lured here by rave reviews from some of our friends so we decided to celebrate a birthday with dinner. Big mistake. Atmosphere was dark and depressing, decor needs updating, server was rude and not very attentive, even though it was not very busy. Food (the supposedly unmatchable prime rib) was sub par. Would not go back if they paid me.

Worst breakfast I ever ate. Ever. People were nice but holy crap was that bad food. Maybe I went on a off day but this was bad.

I like this place. They have great service. The food is good. These guys have a pretty big variety of food. From tex-mex to american to breaded rocky mountain oysters. Yum! They also have a full bar. I'll be coming back. The only thing I didn't like was that they close a little early for my taste.
(3)Kris K.
This is the kind of place very old people and truckers like to go. Last few times, there were certainly "off" items. No more.

Well, I was really torn on how many stars to give this place. If you go to the website, avoid looking at the pics. My husband drug me here, heard it was really good. The thing is, their green chili is the bomb!! Steak looked good, salad was just so so. Service was friendly and quick although not very professional. Also, upon entering the restaurant, no one greeted us for over 5 minutes. There was a bar close by with waitresses hanging out and just staring at us. Finally some other lady came up and sat us. A little bit unnerving. Price is right though and very close to our house, so I'll take what I can get!
